If you never try, you'll never know.
So a few months ago I entered a book contest that just happened to pop up in my feed on Facebook.
I honestly didn't expect much of it, I mean how many hundreds of people enter these things? But since the contest offered an advertising package to the winners of each category, along with a cash prize, I figured I might as well give it to go. No harm in trying, right?
So I filled out the form and didn't think any more about it. That is until a fellow author tagged me on Facebook earlier this month and said congratulations on making the Semi-finals! And silly me is like, "the semi-finals in what?" Remember it has been months since I filled out that form, and between work, kids being home for the summer, and planning a vacation I had all but forgotten even entering. But sure enough, I click the link and there it is, my name listed under the Semi-finalist category for sci-fi/fantasy!!
I couldn't believe it!! I was so excited and couldn't wait to share my news with everyone! Now granted there is still several more eliminations before the winners in each category are chosen, but for me, just making the Semi-finals is more than I ever expected. Don't get me wrong, I would be elated beyond belief if I made it through to the next round(which will not be announced until Oct), but I also know I am up against an amazing group of fellow authors, many of whom have far more experience than I do, after all K The Awakening is the first book I have ever written.
Anyway, I just wanted to take a minute to share my wonderful news with everyone and tell you how much I appreciate all the love and support so many of you have offered me over the last couple of years. If it wasn't for all of you and your kind words, I would have already given up on this adventure of mine quite a while back. But as it is, I am inspired to continue pushing forward and can't wait to share the next chapter of the Shadow Chronicles with you all.
